This Lakeside Ontario Trail Leads You Through A Breathtaking Tree Tunnel
Magical forest tunnels and butter tarts!
While there are so many exciting things going on in Toronto, sometimes it's nice to escape the city bustle and head to quieter lands. Taking a day trip to the surrounding countryside is the perfect way to take a break from the business and see some gorgeous nature views! On your next day off, take a drive to Ontario's Lion's Lake Trail, a serene lakeside walk with a tree tunnel and the sweetest antique cafe at the end!
Located in the tiny town of Floradale, the trail is about a 1.5-hour drive from Toronto, making it the perfect road trip destination! Bring your friends and your furry pal (dogs are welcome on-leash!) and wander through this leafy oasis.
The 7 km trail loops around the blue waters of Woolwich Reservoir and passes through some beautiful forested areas. You'll get to see towering Woolwich Dam as well as an old sugar shack buried in the enchanting forest.
The majestic tree tunnel will be the highlight of your walk. You'll feel as though you've been swept away to a fairytale garden as you stroll beneath a ceiling of lush leaves and branches. This entrancing pathway is breathtaking in all seasons, and definitely worth a visit after a snowfall.
After your walk, relax in the charming Bonnie Lou's Cafe, located just outside of the trail. Once an 1800s general store, you'll be transported back in time as soon as you enter the antique-filled restaurant. This homey, cozy cafe serves delicious homemade food made with local ingredients. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and don't leave without picking up their freshly made pies or butter tarts! Take a look at the website here.
