This month, the largest hot air balloon festival in Canada is happening close to Ottawa! The 32nd Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival will take place from Aug. 29 to Sep. 2, 2019. This magical festival is 15 minutes from Ottawa at Baie Park in Gatineau, Quebec.
Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival would be the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer. You'll be able to watch the sky fill up with tons of colourful and uniquely shaped hot air balloons!
One thing you won't want to miss are the Night Glow events. At night, the hot air balloons will light up the evening sky like floating lanterns.
There's so much more happening at the festival besides looking at hot air balloons! There will be 300 live shows, a silent DJ event, an amusement park, a classic car show, an obstacle course, a vintage arcade, a rock-climbing wall, and lots more! Then on Saturday, Aug. 31, there will be a dazzling fireworks show.
Tickets to the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival are $55 for a day pass or $62 for the entire festival. If you want to experience flying in a hot air balloon, this festival is your chance. Tickets are $325 a person and the lift-offs take place from Saturday to Monday at 6:30 a.m., and from Thursday to Sunday at 6 p.m.
If you don't mind waking up early, it's possible to visit the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival for free. On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, admission to the festival will be free between 6 to 8 a.m. You can watch the morning lift-offs!
