Move over, we're buying the Byward Market 🤑
Ottawa’s new Monopoly board is so accurate it actually hurts. It even touches on those pesky overnight parking bans that annoy us to no end. Between the adorable game pieces and a new take on the chance and community chest cards, any true Ottawan will be laughing out loud at some of these on-point city references. So if you live in the capital and are looking for the world’s most relatable boardgame, Ottawa Monopoly is for you.
With game pieces shaped like Redbacks helmets and Rideau Canal skates and cards that say, “You goton the 417 and missed a meeting,” you’re sure to find a little piece of your daily life right on the board.
Everything is, from the deed cards to the Monopoly money, and of course, the properties are all local too.
Unlike the recently released, this limited edition Ottawa boardgame is actually manufactured by Hasbro themselves.
This makes Ottawa the first city in Canada to have it’s own official monopoly game, according to the game's website.
There are two copies of the game at The Loft Board Game Lounge, so you can hop in and play a round or two with your besties today.
Even Ottawa hockey legend Daniel Alfredsson (Alfie) has tried his hand at a round of the incredible board game.
According to the Instagram post, when Alfie played, he naturally opted for his very own #11 game piece, the same number he wore on his Ottawa senators jersey.
You can purchase the game online if you like, but you should note, there is no shipping available.
Copies of the game can only be picked up at select local stores including Escape Manor, Tag Along Toys, St. Laurent Centre, and more.
