Take your favourite person to someplace truly special. This historic mill is truly a remarkable sight. Surrounded by stunning foliage and a little waterfall, you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled into a Hallmark movie when you visit the Blair Sheave Tower

Located a little over one hour from Toronto in Cambridge, you’ll find this charming spot tucked away in the woods.

A leafy pathway will lead you from the road to the tower but don’t worry, it’s a relatively easy walk.

If you need a little help navigating, just take a peek at this handy map on the city of Cambridge's website.

Or, you can listen for the sound of rushing water and let your ears guide you there.

You will know you’re on the right path when you see the big red information sign that tells you all about the old mill and tower.

The tower is actually Ontario's oldest hydroelectric generating site, though now it operates only as a historic display.

And what a display it is.

The tower was originally built in 1876 to harness energy at the Blair Carlisle grist mill.

Then in 1999, Heritage Cambridge came together to give the abandoned sight a serious makeover.

Today, with its beautiful red walls and scenic surroundings, it’s no wonder this 9.4-meter tall building is a popular spot for engagement and wedding photos.

Once you’ve snapped some cute shots of this romantic spot, you can head into the town of Cambridge where you’ll feel like you’re walking through the streets of Europe.

Which if you ask us, sounds like the ideal day trip idea.
