Honestly, we’ve never met a floral festival that we didn’t like, and this next one is no exception. Whether or not your spring and summer bucket lists are already blooming with flower-powered events, we’ve got one that you simply have to add. Ontario’s gorgeous Oshawa Peony Festival returns this spring and it’s a total dream.

With a variety of over 300 different types of the flower, this is one of Canada’s largest contemporary peony collections.

And you can wander through it all, stopping to smell the flowers along the way, of course.

This year’s event is slated for June 13-14 and will take place in the magical Oshawa Botanical Gardens.

The venue is under an hour's drive from Toronto and a similar distance via transit, so it really is the ideal nearby day trip for you and the besties.

More than just flowers, you can also expect artisan markets, live music, tasty treats, gardening seminars, wine gardens, and so much more.

The best part? Entry to the event is completely free.

So if you’re looking for things to do on a budget this spring, look no further.

That's right, it's time for those warm-weather bucket list plans to reach full bloom!

Once you’ve had your fill in the garden, you can head into the arena where a number of floral arrangements will be judged and awarded.

Here you can also check out the Matsuyama Bonsai Society Show, where a number of gorgeous trees will be on display.

This year marks Oshawa’s 16th peony festival, and it appears to get bigger and better each edition.

New last year was the Bistro 67 wine tent which served a variety of boozy beverages.

Wood-fired pizza, soft-serve ice cream, cotton candy, gourmet hotdogs, and so much more were also available.

Food and artisan vendors have not yet been announced for 2020, but you can bet they’ll be just as drool-worthy.

Between this, Warkworth's huge lilac festival, and Milton's delightful Terre Bleu lavender field, the floral potential is huge in this area of the province.
