This Hidden Arizona Waterfall Is Only A 2.5 Hour Road Trip Away From The Valley
Go chase some waterfalls.
Sometimes, all we need to do is to go with the flow. One way of doing just that is by going on an Arizona waterfall hike. The best part? It's only a 2.5-hour drive away from Phoenix.
Sycamore Rim Trail Loop is a moderate hike that leads you to a seasonal waterfall open year-round. It's approximately 11-miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of 800 feet. It's easy enough for beginner hikers too.
Since the waterfall flows every now and then, we recommend visiting after snowmelt and during monsoon season.
Have you ever heard the saying, "April showers bring May flowers?"
During the spring and part of summer, you'll see an abundance of vibrant wildflowers that will make the long journey worth it.
There's no fee to hike here and the trail can be found near the city of Williams in Sycamore Canyon. You can find detailed directions here.
During the winter, the frozen falls become a hotspot for ice climbers. If you plan on rock climbing, make sure to seek instructions from qualified instructors first.
If your friends aren't available to go on this adventure, you can bring your pet along for the fun.
Most of the path is relatively smooth with the occasional incline. We recommend wearing shoes that have a good grip as the ground can be muddy and slippery.
If the falls are dry, no worries. There are permanent pools of water that never dry up called the Pomeroy Tanks.
Grab your BFF and your favorite camera for this scenic and peaceful trip.
This is the perfect weekend activity if you're out of fun things to do in Phoenix.
