You Can Race Your Friends On This Crazy Mountain Coaster In California
It's all downhill from here.
If you’re looking for a super-fun mountain getaway this year, you’re in for a treat. There’s an amazing Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain in Big Bear that takes you on a wild ride through forest trees, mountain views, and wilderness.
Who doesn’t want to race their friends on a quarter-mile bobsledding run? If you visit during the summer, this fun zone also has a refreshing water slide.
In the winter, you can play around on the snow play lift. There’s also a little snack bar area with delicious treats if you get the mid-day munchies.
Whether you choose to visit during the fall or come for the snow season, the alpine slide is open year-round. As California’s only authentic bobsledding experience, it’s definitely worth the visit!
A single ride costs $6. If you try it out and want to come back for more, you can purchase a pack of five for $25.
The park has also opened up a new attraction called the Soaring Eagle where you can zip line above the mountains at speeds up to 28 miles per hour.
There’s plenty of things to do at this little spot. It’s a great roadside stop on your way to the lakes and mountains.
To get to the alpine slide, you’ll have to take a scenic chairlift ride to the top of the hill. It’s a great place to snap some pics on the way up.
You’ll have panoramic views of beautiful Big Bear Lake, tall pines, and surrounding snow-capped mountains.
From there, riders are told how to navigate the bobsled run and take either of two tracks track down the hill. (*take the fast track, cough cough*). You can go as fast or as slow as you want by braking (or not) with the control handle.
This quarter-mile long cement track will have you flying with high-bank raised turns and long, smooth straightaways. If you have one friend take each track, you can race each other down the hill! Make sure to take plenty of pics before you start.
Besides the alpine slide, there are plenty of other fun things to do at Big Bear Lakes. You can go on scenic hikes, snowboard, ski, tubing, and even swim in the lakes during warmer weather. If you’re planning out your next adventure, this is the place to be.
