This Florida Park With Steep Boardwalks Is A Hiker's Dream Come True
A staircase to paradise.
When it comes to real hiking Florida doesn't have much elevation and hills. However, there is a place hidden in the north where you can get a marvelous scenic view and the best workout. Bay Bluffs Boardwalk is a hiking trail overlooking the bay with moderate elevation gain.
This boardwalk trail has one of the best bay views located in a passive preserve surrounded by a virescent forest. The steep boardwalk has an elevation gain of 108 feet and a distance of 0.8 miles.
The trail is accessible year-round and you can do other activities around the area. What is fascinating about the trail is that it has many zigzags up and down the steep slope surrounded by live oak trees.
The steep staircases will lead you to a tiny beach along the way and across the railroad tracks. Even though the boardwalk is not long, the staircases and straightaway along the path will provide a strenuous workout.
Dogs are welcome to visit the park as long they are on a leash. If you are not ready to climb the stairs due to health conditions you can also walk along the path next to the road.
Pensacola Bay is one of the oldest cities in the south with lots of history and nature. This boardwalk is one of the most beautiful ones you will ever visit, providing a quick trip to nearby springs.
The surrounding trees provide enough shade to keep the workout moderate and enjoyable. If you are looking for a different side of Florida, this place is the hidden haven you were looking for.
To arrive to the trail from downtown Pensacola, follow US 90 east for 4.2 miles.
