You Can Fly In A Vintage '20s Plane In Florida For Surprisingly Super Cheap Right Now
Ring in the Roaring 20's with an authentic vintage plane ride!
With the New Year officially in gear, it’s time for new experiences and once-in-a-lifetime adventures. You can start the year off with a thrill in Florida this month, where you can actually take a ride in a vintage 1920’s passenger airplane for only $75. The Experimental Aircraft Association is holding a months-long tour across different cities with a Ford Tri-Motor, an icon of the Roaring ’20s.
The trip will take you back in time as you fly the vintage “Tin Goose” at Space Coast Regional Airport and take off on a sightseeing tour across Florida’s coast.
The flight is more than just an excursion, it’s an experience of aviation history. The Tin Goose is number 146 of 199 Tri-Motor aircrafts built between 1923 and 1933, having its debut flight in 1929. Since then, it’s lived quite a life with many different uses.
First leased to Cubana Airlines with service from Havana to Santiago de Cuba, it’s also served as a crop duster, an aerial firefighter, and was later used in shows.
EAA is on a mission to share the history and experience of flight with people everywhere. The pilot of the Tin Goose, Steve Lambrick, wants to inspire the next generation to fly in real life and not just in video games.
While the nine-cylinder engines make the cabin of the plane longer than your modern-day aircraft, passengers also get to enjoy much more legroom.
Surprisingly, the plan only reaches about 1,000 feet off the ground, never going over 75 mph.
The Tin Goose will depart from Space Coast Regional Airport, and guests will check-in at Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum. Continuous flights run throughout the day at the respective city.
You’ll be able to find flights on the aircraft in several cities across Florida through the next three months.
In Titusville January 9 – 12, Vero Beach January 16 – 29, Punta Gorda January 23 – 26, Marathon January 30 – February 2, Stuart February 6 – 9, Naples February 13 – 16, For Myers February 20 – 23, Venice February 27 – March 1, Brooksville March 5 – 8, New Smyrna Beach March 12 – 15, Gainsville March 19 – 22, and Apalachicola March 26 – 29.
