A 99-Acre Beachfront Park In South Florida Is Hosting A Massive FREE Kite Festival Soon
The sky is the limit.
Running free through the grass while trying to get the wind to lift your kite is a pleasure that knows no ages. If you are a child in spirit, you will soon be able to relive this experience in Florida. A huge kite festival is coming to Miami in February, and the sky of Haulover Park will be awash in colorful and multi-shaped kites. Better yet, the fun-filled event is free.
Haulover Park is considered a great spot to fly kites in the Miami-Dade area. The public park is located in front of the sea, so you get to take in the ocean views and salty breeze while attending this 3-day event that has become one of the city's favorites.
You are free to bring your own, although you can also buy one on the day of the event. Diversity of shapes, sizes, and colors will be available at affordable prices.
On February 15, 16, and 17, the fun runs from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. Bring your blanket or folding chair and pick your spot. Arriving early is a good idea.
You will have plenty of time to enjoy live entertainment, food trucks, and crafts. A kid’s zone with interactive activities and bounce houses will also be available to entertain the little ones at this event designed for all ages.
If you've always wanted to learn how to make your own, there will be paper kite-building classes and demonstrations. Also, during the three days of the event, there will be flying competitions for both children and adults.
Another tradition in the events organized by Skyward Kites is the appearance of giant kites. Don't be surprised if a 100-foot-long flying squid, a gigantic whale, a 150-foot flying rainbow, or a monster rainbow stingray suddenly cover the Miami Beach sky. How cool is that?
Some great food trucks will park on the premises offering delicious sweet and savory food, including tacos and burgers. They will also have beverages options for everyone. The live entertainment options are yet to be announced.
You can go to this event for free but take into account that parking at Haulover Park is $5 or $6 on weekdays and $7 on weekends.
