Spooky season is almost here and Miami has a long and haunted history to explore. This Halloween, you can go on a private ghost tour of Miami City Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Miami. The tour will be led by renowned Miami historian Dr. Paul George and will give guests a close look at famous and mysterious deaths in the city.
The tour, titled Ghosts of Miami City Cemetery, is an annual event hosted by the Miami History Museum. Guests will learn about mysterious and suspicious deaths and visit the graves of historic Miamians including early settlers, Miami’s first mayor, the Burdine family, and Julia Tuttle.
Historian Dr. Paul George has gained local, national, and international acclaim with his historic tours. Last year's ghost tour sold out quickly, so buy your tickets soon on the Miami History Museum website.
Costumes are welcome, so come dressed in your spookiest attire for a haunting evening in the cemetery!
You may get to see the strangest grave at Miami City Cemetery, Carrie Barret Miller's. Miller was famously buried in her bed, encased in a concrete tomb. Her gravestone reads: "AFTER THE BODY HAS GONE TO DUST HER SLEEPING FORM WILL REMAIN."
