You Can Actually Swim With Live Gators This Month Near Miami
Swim with gator tours booking now!
From manatees to dolphins and even sharks, you'd be surprised what wildlife you can actually swim with in the Sunshine State. If you've ever wanted to really take a walk on the wild side, swimming with gators is easily one of the most unique things to do in Florida.
Christopher Gillette, known more commonly by his social media name Crocodile Chris, offers a one-of-a-kind experience that only the bravest of the brave would try: a chance to.
Just what all does this tour entail? That entirely depends on you and how you set up your visit.
However, you'll find yourself in the water with Chris, one massive scaley boy who goes by the name Casper, and about 10-15 other gators in a 30,000-gallon aquatic habitat.
Casper is the largest gator, stretching nearly 10 feet long, weighing in at a massive 250 lbs.
The water can be a little chilly, so they recommend bringing a wetsuit; if you don't have one though, a swimsuit is fine. They'll provide the mask, snorkel, and weight belt.
You won't be touching this dino of the deep, as the tour is observation-only. However, Gillette also has some insane photography skills and offers the option to add on his photo services to forever capture your adrenaline-fueled adventure.
The experience is all done through Thein Homestead — which has all its own.
Safety is super important, so only 1 person can go in at a time and you must be 18 or older to participate.
Offered only a few days each month, the Gator Boy himself has new openings coming up for a swim with Casper. The next available dates are January 24, 25, 31 and February 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, and 22.
If you've ever wanted to swim with a gator, now's your chance! Gillette lists his credentials on his website, including additional info about tour offerings, safety, and breathtaking photos.
If you don't think you'll be swimming with this beast, we understand — it is a wild animal. Chris shares his work at The Everglades and with Casper on Instagram under the handle @gatorboys_chris.
Maybe gators aren't so scary after all!
