There’s something undeniably charming about a clear night sky lit up by stars. Whether you can recognize the names of them or not, it’s an ethereal experience that doesn’t happen too often in busy, light-polluted cities. With the number of attractions, tourists, and cars in the city of Orlando, you wouldn’t think it one of the best places for stargazing. In our list of best places to stargaze in Florida, most of them inevitably end up being on the coasts.

However, there is a preserve not far from Disney that allows for some of the best stargazing in the region. The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is Florida’s first Dark Sky Park, and with a new moon coming up at the end of October, this will be a fantastic place to stargaze.

A Dark Sky Park is a land that possesses an exceptional quality of starry nights that restricts light pollution. It is specifically protected for its scientific wealth and public enjoyment.

At the Kissimmee Prairie State Park, stargazers have the chance to see a multitude of stars, planets, and other celestial bodies in unforgettable brilliance.

Jupiter and Saturn are both clearly visible, and you may even see the International Space Station making its orbit around Earth.

It also serves as a great spot to catch any rocket launches from the space centers on the east coast.

While all Florida state parks close at sunset, there are several ways to access the park after hours. You camp out by reserving a campsite, reserve an astronomy pad site, or purchase a Florida State Parks Family Annual Pass.

The new moon falls on the 28th of October, so you’ll want to plan ahead for the best night sky viewing experience!

If you're looking for more breathtaking natural views, you have to visit this hidden wildflower field while it's still in bloom!
