As if the name "A Petrified Forest" weren’t ominous enough, can you imagine wandering a totally blacked-out haunted trail armed with only one glow stick? Oh yeah, and there are monsters, and they are totally allowed to steal your glow stick.
If this sounds like a good time to you, this event known as Total Eclipse Night opens on October 30; think of it as pre-gaming for Halloween. You’re definitely going to have a scare-hangover after this one.
A Petrified Forest is Central Florida’s premier haunted scare trail, and they host several terrifying events throughout October. Located right in the middle of a forest (because Florida forests weren’t terrifying enough already), this year’s layout covers over 85,000 square feet of completely new horrors.
Along with adult-themed nights, APF also offers kids' nights and a special-needs night. The trails get redesigned to be wheelchair accessible and to be experienced at your own pace. All events operate rain or shine!
A Petrified Forest strives to give full immersion and personal experiences, so your group shouldn’t exceed six people. To ensure everyone’s safety, there are no masks or big bags allowed, and everyone goes through a metal detector before entering.
On normal nights, the monsters aren’t allowed to touch you, but on Total Eclipse Night, it’s a different story. You’ll have to sign a waiver for that one before participating. When you and your group enter, you’ll only have one glow stick between all of you for the entire night, and if it gets lost or stolen away, you don’t get another!
Throughout the night, there will also be live music, food concessions, and even backstage tours. The tours require a separate ticket, but they also allow you to do some of the scaring yourself. Tickets will be available soon on their website.
