You Can Watch A Rocket Launch In Person At The Florida Kennedy Space Center This December
We're goin' on a trip in our Florida rocketship!
While most of us will never get a chance to rocket into space, we will always have a fascination with the skies above us & beyond our galaxy. Those with a soft spot for space can actually watch a rocket launch in Florida.
Those who want to experience the wonder that is watching a rocket shoot off into the relatively unknown galaxy will have the opportunity on December 4th.
The SpaceX Falcon 9 CRS-19 is set to launch at 12:51 p.m., carrying the next commercial cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station. The cargo is set to be delivered on a Dragon spacecraft & includes science investigations, supplies, and needed equipment.
Those wanting to sit in on this launch have a couple of options. The Kennedy Space Center on the east coast offers seating at a few different locations that will give you some of the best viewing conditions.
Their closest spot is the LC-39 Observation Gantry that is only 3.4 miles from the launch pad. It has bleacher seating with launch commentary, & includes a light meal & souvenir t-shirt, with additional souvenirs available for purchase.
This spot will cost you the most at $49, plus daily admission — but is currently sold out for this launch. Visitors who manage to snag this ticket are advised to show up early to the main visitor's center early to board the shuttle to the viewing site at 11 a.m.
The next closest spot is the Apollo/Saturn V Center at 6.2 miles from the launch pad. This location is included with the $57 daily admission, and also has bleacher seating with commentary. Dining & souvenirs to commemorate your viewing will be available for purchase.
The main visitor complex is also included with daily admission, and is 6.7 miles from the launch pad, also including the bleacher seating, commentary, and dining or souvenirs for separate purchase.
All locations will have restrooms available.
Since you have daily admission after you've watched the launch you can go back to the visitor's complex to explore exhibits & displays of historic memorabilia.
This is the kind of experience that you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. Watching as the massive rocket jets off into the atmosphere, to infinity & beyond.
