Supernatural encounters can be found in most places, but there is a specific venue where you can join ghost hunters and explore stories of the past right here in St. Augustine. St. Augustine Lighthouse offers a paranormal tour with access inside the lighthouse that will give you the chills.
The Dark of the Moon is the only tour that will give you access inside the lighthouse at night. This tour explores the corners of St. Augustine Lighthouse with a guided talk through the 1876 Keepers’ House and the 1874 St. Augustine Lighthouse tower.
The tour lasts one hour and a half to two hours where you will be hearing spooky stories from the mid-1800s and investigating maritime history. Tours are offered every weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and more days during peak times.
This paranormal tour has been featured on Ghost Hunters, CNN, Parade Magazine, Fox News and The Weather Channel where guests had different experiences with paranormal activity.
Ghost Hunters will return to St. Augustine Lighthouse on Sept. 4 on A&E and you can take a peek at the show before booking your tour.
The eerie feeling of the lighthouse is evident once you step inside. The tour is unpredictable and you really don't know what to expect while climbing the steps at night.
According to a Trip Advisor review, "At one point we were sitting in the room above the basement by ourselves and I could swear I heard footsteps behind us, but since there were others in the building I couldn't be sure it wasn't someone else."
You can also participate in an investigation-only-tour or private tour for birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, family reunions and similar groups. It will be a nightmare before they turn the lights off.
