It's no secret that the cost of going to the movies has skyrocketed in recent years, and many of us opt to not get movie snacks or for-go going altogether because of it. The release of the new Detective Pikachu movie has crept up, and so shortly after Avengers - our wallets can't keep up! This Florida drive-in keeps things affordable, and they're screening the new Detective Pikachu movie this weekend for super cheap.

Back in 2003, the average movie ticket price was $6.03 per ticket, but in recent years the cost has ballooned to approximately $10-$12 or more at most theaters for a single showing. The Silver Moon Drive-In Theater in Lakeland keeps their prices low just like back in 2003 and will be screening the new Detective Pikachu movie starting tomorrow, May 10th.

The Silver Moon Drive-In will have their very first screening of Detective Pikachu on Screen 2 in 2D at 8:45 pm, and for only $6 a ticket for adults; or $2 for children aged 4 to 9. The best part is watching your movie reclined in your car, A.C. on, and the night sky backdropping the big screen. Or you can bring lawn chairs and set up right in front of your car for a beautiful movie night under the stars. You can even bring in your own snacks.

The animation of Pikachu in the new movie looks super cute too - and the little hat, oh man. 90s kids, gamer geeks, and Pokemon fanatics alike are ready to relive the nostalgia while experiencing Pokemon in a whole new way - live action with realistic CGI, all while staying true to the design of the Pokemon we know and love.

Detective Pikachu looks like it's going to be cute and witty - and the trailer keeps the spirit of Pokemon alive while staying true to the original designs of the Pokemon really well despite being a live-action movie. Even if it's a little different from what we're used to in a Pokemon movie, we're ready to give it a chance - especially when the movie ticket is only $6.

If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check out their second trailer below, which also gives a little sneak peek into the other Pokemon that will be in the film.

If you want to beat the rush for a first view movie, Silver Moon suggests to come well before showtime to get a better parking spot and to avoid the traffic on your way in. If you have a truck, they ask that you park in the back row so guests with smaller vehicles can see the screen. If you show up a little early you can take some super cute photos too with their retro-neon signs.

If you're ready to solve the mystery with Detective Pikachu this weekend, the Silver Moon Drive-In Theater is located at 4100 New Tampa Hwy, Lakeland, FL 33815. The film will be shown on Screen 2 at 8:45 pm starting tomorrow May 10th, for only $6 per adult ticket.
