When we think of St Pete and Pinellas as a whole, the first things that generally come to mind are the restaurants and nightlife - but we are also surrounded by stunning coastlines that aren't really explored enough. This kayak experience takes you on the most gorgeous paddle tours around the hidden gems of St. Pete's coastal waters.
Kayak tours are a great way to experience the water, and these will take you through the lesser touched parts of the St. Pete coastline. They'll take you to Shell Key Preserve, which features a series of secluded island beaches, crystal waterways, and the most amazing mangrove tunnels that you absolutely need to see. The preserve has so many amazing ways it can be enjoyed, and Coastal Kayak offers tours that let you experience all areas of this stunning slice of nature.
Coastal Kayak has 3 variations of tours and welcomes people of any skill level on their affordable excursions. You can experience the sparkling waters on a sunshiney day tour, go a bit later to see the sunsets or experience the best of the changing sky as the sunset fades into twilight on a Twilight Tour.
On the Shell Preserve Day Tour, you'll get to explore the coast for about 3 hours admiring the shallow seagrass meadows (manatees love seagrass), protected bays, and the canopy of branches & green in the mangrove tunnels, tides permitting. You'll also get a little relaxation break on the island's gorgeous beaches to enjoy swimming, shell & sand dollar hunting, or a lazy sun-bathe. If you go a bit later, you can finish your day with the most incredible sunsets that Florida has to offer, all with an open water view from your kayak.
If you decide to go on their Twilight Tour, your paddle will be a little different. You'll explore the protected waters of Little McPherson and the Bayou just beyond Pass-a-Grille and St. Pete Beach. You'll paddle down canals where beautiful homes line the waterfront. As you head to Boca Ciega Bay, you may spot dolphins and shorebirds along the way. These tours are generally offered October through March, where you'll make your return as the sky fades from sunset into the somber glow of a twinkling twilight.
Coastal Kayak's Tours are only $38 per person. No matter which tour you take, they're all priced the same - and they're more affordable compared to other kayak experiences in the area that average prices around $45 to $50. After booking a tour, they let you know what launch site you'll be at, providing information on how to get there and what you'll need to bring. All you need is your spirit of adventure and clothes you're okay getting wet in, and they'll provide the kayak and an experience that you'll remember for a lifetime.
