You Can Go Muscadine Grape Picking At This Vineyard In Jacksonville This Fall
While sipping through the grapevines.
Strawberry season might be over but you can embrace one of people's favorite fruit: the muscadine grape. This fruit is not only used for wine but also to make jam, jellies and butter. Congaree and Penn is a farm in North Florida offering farm-to-table culinary experiences, grape picking and farm tours for the oneophile (a wine lover for those wondering).
Romantic sunsets emanate from the fields while locals enjoy a culinary journey and intimate dinners at the Quonset Hut. Congaree and Penn is one of the most promising businesses in Jacksonville providing a unique setting where people can enjoy wine, date nights and sipping adventures through the grapevines.
Muscadine season just started and a short 30 minutes away from Jacksonville will make wine connoiseurs very excited. The farm grows muscadine grapes, blackberry and Arbequina Olive trees.
Guests have to register online before going Muscadine picking through the grapevines. You can reserve a picking time from Wednesday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Each reservation includes a small basket but you can purchase additional baskets for $5 for a small size and $15 for a large size.
Muscadine grapes are not the typical grapes you see at the supermarket. These species are rounder and thicker with great health benefits and high in antioxidants.
Muscadine grape season takes place during August and September with morning and evening picks. If you are looking for an environmental friendly and low-budget date idea, this is the place. You can book your reservation here.
Other activities in the farm include olive picking, farmer's table experience, sunset cruises, farm tours and more.
