1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila, floor.
Tequila reigns supreme as one of our favorite liquors, but little did we know that the tequila we've been raving over isn't even the best we can find. Now there's an entire festival dedicated to realigning our palettes to become accustomed to the most authentic tequila Mexico has to offer. This Atlanta tequila festival in taking over at the end of the month, and we're ready to drink the day away.
On Oct. 26, tequila lovers will take over Piedmont Park for "Viva Tequila Festival!" This 21+ event offers a unique tequila tasting experience that'll transport you straight to the streets of Mexico.
Tequila is the star of the show that day, and you'll have the opportunity to taste over 20 batches of tequila imported from Mexico. They've all been aged at different rates, so you'll get to taste the difference between the $15 bottle of tequila you get from your local liquor store and the smooth tequila from Jalisco.
If you're not a fan of drinking "blancos, reposados y añejos" (the holy trinity of tequila types) straight up, you can have the tequila blended into some delectable cocktails by mixologists that can truly conceptualize your preferences.
Any authentic Mexican fiesta needs food, and you'll most definitely be able to grub along the way. Atlanta's most inventive chefs are coming together to create tacos and small plates that'll keep you coming back for more. Atlanta favorite Mexican restaurants are coming out, like:
Although the food and drinks aren't full-sized, they're bottomless and included in the ticket price, so you can keep coming back for sample after sample.
After the mariachi band plays the last song and the sun begins to set, the party isn't over. The festival takes place during the daytime but there's an afterparty with a DJ exclusive to festival-goers. You'll truly be treated like a VIP, whether you upgrade your tickets or not.
Overall, it's nine full hours of some intense partying, and you know how Atlanta likes to get down. Get your tickets soon before the rest of the Atlanta catches on and the event sells out.
