If you've been dreaming of being laid up on the beach with a Mai Thai in one hand and a handful of sand in the other, we've got your solution. We know tickets to any of the Pacific Islands can cost you a fortune, but this Atlanta festival will solve that need for a well-deserved vacation. Tiki Tango is hosting a Rum and Tiki Festival this month, so you can basically travel abroad for a fraction of the cost.
The Atlanta Rum Society and Atlanta Tiki Revival are going big for this month's festival on Aug. 24. If you've already been to Tiki Tango, you know that this unique three-story bar is poppin' all on its own. Now that an official festival is being hosted there, it'll be packed out.
You'll be surrounded by rum for days, food that's guaranteed to make you drool a little and doses of Polynesian culture that'll make you question what continent you're in.
Ticket holders will have the chance to try eight different rums from all over the world. This isn't your typical liquor store rum, but rather several carefully crafted and selected rums that'll actually go down smoothly. Then you'll get to try those same rums in specialty cocktails and tiki drinks.
When your hunger kicks in, you'll have access to the samples of island-inspired bites. While you're sipping and eating the island vibes, you'll be entertained by the Polynesian dance group and live music. If you drink enough rum, you might want to get up and dance with them.
You get all of this for only $35. You're eligible for giveaways just by showing up, so you definitely need to buy a ticket if you're feeling lucky.
Although the festival is only from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the restaurant and bar are open way past 7 p.m., so you can literally party into the wee morning hours.
You've got to dress the part to really get in the mood - Hawaiian shirts and leis are highly encouraged.
