This Atlanta Reggae Festival In August Is Giving Away Unlimited Rum Punch
Experience the Caribbean right here in ATL.
Summer is usually the time people travel to the Carribbean to get away from the city, but if you're looking for the island vibes, you can plan a perfect staycation at the 6th annual BeREGGAE festival. This free reggae festival in Atlanta let's you drink unlimited rum punch and get your Bob Marley vibes on. The event, previously held at Pekerson park, will set up at Piedmont Park this year on August 10th and 11th from 12pm-10pm.
BeREGGAE, hosted by Atlanta Reggae in the Park LLC, is one of the biggest Afro-Carribean music festivals in the Southeast. It is an immersive experience celebrating reggae culture with tons of international food, bands, artists and a pop-up indie market with cultural jewelry, clothes and more. You can also catch the beachy summer vibes with unlimited island-themed drinks including rum punch and margaritas.
The festival's tagline brand spreads a message of love and promotes openness, social justice and unity. According to Founder and CEO, Eric Barnes, the goal of the festival is to create a quality event without the high prices, which is the foundation of their motto, "For The People."
Come hungry, because Atlanta Vegan Food Tours has teamed up with the event to create an immersive vegan experience called The Garden of Vegan, exclusive to the festival, that will offer vegan products from food to healthcare.
Shop local at the event's pop-up market, Atlanta Indie Market, to discover over 100 local independent vendors and tap into your creative side. You can expect to find things like vintage fashion, street apparel, jewelry, ethnic treasures, local indie art and home goods. If you're looking for vegan goodies before the festival, you can stop by the next week.
Tons of local (and not-so-local) bands, artists and DJs will be performing Carribean genres like Reggae, Reggaeton, Afrobeat, Dancehall and Soca. You can expect to see artists like Tito Puente Jr., Spragga Benz, Corin Gabriella, Sol Rizing, Shade Reggae, and more. Even though the festival ends at 10pm, the fun doesn't stop then. There will be an afterparty on both Saturday and Sunday. Details to come.
The festival is also hosting a "BeREGGAE 5k" run leading up to the event that takes you through the scenic beltline route. The walk/run will be held on Saturday, July 13th from 8am - 11am. You can sign up for the 5K here for $30.
