It's September and that means that college football is back in session. We want our Dawgs on top this year and we will cheer them on throughout the season louder than we have before. There's nothing like the sweet smell of hot dogs and booze at Sanford Stadium tailgate, y'all. Unfortunately, our budgets and busy lives don't always allow us to spend the time or cash to attend the actual game. That's why Tiger Drive-In Theatre in Georgia will be showing the UGA vs. Notre Dame game this year.
Tiger Drive-In Theatre in Tiger, Georgia is part of the small handful of last-standing drive-ins in the state. The cheap $10 cost to see current box office hits beats any Regal or AMC. You can snag a spot to park on the lawn and enjoy the great outdoors in the back of your car with plenty of cozy blankets.
Tiger Drive-In is skipping the movies and switching to sports on Sept. 21 to show the UGA vs. Notre Dame game on the big screen. The game starts at 8 p.m. but the gates open at 5:30 p.m. so you and the squad can set up camp early and prepare to cheer on the Dawgs.
The vintage open-air space with corn hole boards makes the cinema a perfect spot to tailgate. Plus it takes a lot less effort and energy than walking around in the heat all day long.
Spending ten bucks vs. a couple hundred for a UGA game seems like a much more reasonable deal. If you want to make a trip of it, you can camp for an extra $10 per site — a total steal! There are also two vintage campers on Airbnb for a super retro mini vacay.
So, pack up your coolers and get out your red and black apparel for a super fun night of football and tailgating. Make sure you come hungry because they have a grill with super yummy snacks, burgers, philly cheesesteaks, and of course, boiled peanuts (for a true Southern tailgate experience).
If you're into the whole drive-in concept, check out the only one in Atlanta for a super cute retro date night and a Georgia date night bucketlist for you and your S/O.
