Celebrating Christmas in the South is the best way to celebrate the holidays. Christmas on the beach is even better. Jekyll Island on Georgia's coast is known for its calmness and famous Driftwood Beach. Now you can enjoy it for its holiday cheer; for this holiday season, the island will be turned into a Christmas wonderland filled with lights and decor. This free event in Georgia is worth a road trip this season.
Holly Jolly Jekyll is back for another year and it is better than ever. No matter what day or what time you visit the island, it'll be decked out in decorations and get you in the , whether you like it or not. From Nov. 15 to Jan. 5, you can enjoy this holiday event in all its bright light glory.
There are trolly light tours, ice skating, a parade, movies on the lawn and so many more activites throughout the entire duration of the festival.is fun to visit at any time of the year, but this is the prime time to go.
While you can walk around the island to look at the lights, you can be boujee and take a ride on the tram and not have to move a muscle. You'll see over half a million lights covered on the oak trees, the different houses on the island and you'll make a stop at the Faith Chapel. After the stop, there will be a holiday beverage waiting for you.
The skating village will be opened back up which is obviously a fan favorite. It's in the historic district with a perfect view of the Jekyll River while you skate around the ice with your boo thing. It's also only $5 to skate, including the skates!
Saturday, Nov. 30, marks the free movie night on the lawn. The Village will be displaying The Grinch which makes for the perfect date night without even having to spend a penny.
Along with those events and activities, there will be parades, a carnival and concerts going on throughout the season.
