Summer is still in session and as fall patiently awaits us, it's the perfect time to sneak in some last minute outdoor fun in the water. There are tons of cool kayak tours in Georgia, but none quite like the Boats & Brews tour in Macon. This boozy kayak excursion takes you to a craft brewery and kitchen to eat and drink your hearts out after your peaceful ride on the water.
Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions is Macon's only locally-owned and operated outdoor excursion company offering kayak and canoe tours along the gorgeous Ocmulgee River. They offer a shuttle service and have two meeting points at Ocmulgee Heritage Trailhead parking lot and Amerson River Park. Excursions stop in late September or early October, so make sure to book your boozy kayak trip soon.
Kayakers participating in the Boats & Brews tour will meet at modern-industrial Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen for lunch (and maybe a beer) before the trip. You can choose from a pulled pork or brisket sandwich, veggie burger, or double diner burger with a side; included in the $65 price (or $130 for canoes). They also have moonlit night floats that will kick back up in 2020.
You will then be transported by shuttle to the river point to begin your peaceful two hour float on the kayak. You'll be provided with a water bottle, granola bar and a waterproof phone case so you can snap those perfect Instagram moments.
After your adventure down the beautiful and serene river, you will end back at Piedmont Brewery to get the party started. To celebrate your "hard work" (wink wink) on the river, you can indulge in one (or many) of the unique craft beer flavors, from dark and roasty to tart and fruity.
Keep the fun going with their arcade games including skeeball, pinball, foosball, darts, and classic arcade games. Stay for dinner and choose from delicious plates like fish and chips or a bahn mi sandwich. They also serve brunch and host private events if you decide you love it and want to go back.
