The Guardian Building

Why You Need To Go: The ceiling of this lobby is truly one of the most incredible sights in Detroit. Its quirky and colorful design is one-of-a-kind.

It has some familiar geometric, Art Deco patterns that are made out of rare types of granite and brick. Stepping into this lobby is like stepping into a time machine back to a more glamorous era. 


The Michigan Building

Price: The building charges $5 per person to enter the older wing that still has parts of the ruined facade visible.

Why You Need To Go: This is the spot to visit if you want to do a little bit of urban exploring and see some ruins of an older era.

It's an amazing spot to watch the sun shine through old windows. You can imagine the theater-goers from a century ago and snap a few pics of yourself. 


Cliff Bell's

Why You Need To Go: This spot gives off a Gatsby vibe in more ways than one. The sultry atmosphere does make you feel like you're drinking in a speakeasy during Prohibition, but the cherry on top is the live music.

Cliff Bell's is one of Detroit's most well-known jazz bars and it's the spot to be if you want to feel like a flapper. 


Fox Theater

The Keep

Why You Need To Go: Since this hidden bar is underground, it really feels like you've entered a new universe. 

Once you're submerged in this basement's rock walls and you're drinking a delicious craft cocktail, you'll have no issues imagining that the booze you're drinking was bootlegged. 


The David Whitney Building

Why You Need To Go: After you stroll through the gorgeous lobby with a roof that's almost entirely made of a window, you can grab a coffee or a sandwich at the dining options in this building.


Detroit Opera House

Why You Need To Go: This place really gives a good sense of old Detroit luxury. When this was the birthplace of cars and the modernization that came with it, people were living like Gatsby.

Diego Rivera's Murals in the Detroit Institute of Art

Price: Admission is $14, $8 for students with a valid ID

Address: 5200 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI

Why You Need To Go: Diego Rivera and his wife, Frida Kahlo, came to Detroit in 1932 and spent some time here while he painted these murals. 

As two of the most famous artists of the 20th century, it's an honor that these incredible paintings depicting the automobile industry that put Detroit on the map are on display for the community.
