Just because Christmas is here, doesn't mean the winter goodness and holiday cheer has to end. Most people don't even take down their Christmas trees until after the first of the year, so you can still celebrate the holidays. You'll get major winter wonderland vibes at these North Carolina spots and there is still time to explore and experience them. 

U.S. National Whitewater Center

Why You Need To Go: This  17,000-square-foot ice skating rink right on the water that has a skate-up bar where you can get all the booze your heart desires. 


Hawksnest Snowtubing

When: November 23, 24, 29 and 30-March 29

Address: 2058 Skyland Dr., Seven Devils, NC 

Why You Need To Go: You can choose to go down lanes as small as 400 feet to as large as 1,000 feet. This is NC's largest snow tubing park and you're sure to have a good time. 


Cataloochee Ski Area 

Price: $40+

Address: 1080 Ski Lodge Rd., Maggie Valley, NC 

Why You Need To Go: This is a less populated ski resort that will make you feel like you are in a Christmas movie. There is even night skiing. 


Omni Grove Park Inn

Address: 290 Macon Ave., Asheville, NC 

Why You Need To Go: You can stay at this magical hotel, or you can just visit to have some of the best hot chocolate you've ever had and to walk around to see the amazing gingerbread house sculptures. 


The Gorge

Price: $95

Why You Need To Go: You'll zipline through white-capped mountains and snow-covered trees to make a unique adventurous experience. This is also NC's fastest and steepest zipline. 


Holidays at the Garden

Price: $7.95+

When: November 29-January 5

Address: 6500 South New Hope Rd., Belmont, NC

Why You Need To Go: You'll step into a winter wonderland that is covered in lights and see the gardens in a whole new light. There are Christmas tunes that fill the gardens as you walk through and you can end your trip with roasting marshmallows.  


Cape Fear Festival of Trees 

Price: $9.95

When: November 18-January 2

Address: 900 Loggerhead Rd., Kure Beach, NC

Why You Need To Go: You'll be able to enjoy a trip to the aquarium while looking at the trail of decorated Christmas trees throughout the facility.
