It can get pretty chilly in the desert. Fortunately, there are plenty of hot springs around to warm up our cold hearts. This fall, you can visit this Nevada hot spring. It's a hidden gem in the desert.

Big Warm Spring (aka Duckwater Hot Springs) is the largest spring in Nevada. The Duckwater Shoshone Tribe draws water from this geothermal spring since they are mostly an agricultural community. The springs temperature ranges from about 91-93 degrees Farenheight. It's the perfect temp for a relaxing kind of day.

The springs are located on the Duckwater Shoshone reservation and are free to use by the public. Since the water is also home to a threatened type of fish it's imperative that you abide by the rules if you decide to visit.

The color of the water in the springs is a beautiful turquoise color. It's really clear too.

There's a stairway that leads you and your friends into the springs. It can get a little slippery with all the water but there's no need to worry about falling. The stairway has rails for you to use on your way down or your way up.

Since the water is so clear it's possible to see some little fish swimming around. Although the water isn't scalding hot like a hot tub it's perfect to lounge in during the summer and winter.

Since the spring is less than 4 hours away from Las Vegas, you and your pals can pack up the car and make a road trip out of it. It's pretty easy to miss, so plan accordingly. You can get detailed directions here
