It might be getting cooler outside, but honestly, it's one of the best times to go exploring since you won't be sweating to death on your adventure. Tennesee has a few outdoor destinations that have places to hike, swim, fish and even rock climb. One of these adventurous spots in Knoxville is a wildlife sanctuary and a great place to get your outdoor on.

Ijams Nature Center is in Knoxville, Tennessee and sits on 315 acres. This nature center is known as Mead's Quarry as well and has something for everyone in your group. This is a protected wildlife center and you'll probably see many different birds flying about during your visit.

One of the coolest parts about this spot is the quarry right on the property. Quarries are beautiful to look at by themselves, but if you're lucky enough to actually kayak around, you need to take the opportunity. Blue emerald quarries are usually hard to find so it's super cool that you can actually get in this one.

When you visit Ijams, you'll have over 10 miles of paved and unpaved trails to hike, depending on your ability and time. If you pick up a map of the area at the visitor's center, you can find what trails will lead you to beautiful meadows and huge ponds.

There are also many rock climbing opportunities at this park. Whether or not you are an experienced climber, there's many options for every level of climber. This is Knoxville's only outdoor rock climbing area, so you should experience it while you're here.

The famous Navitat Canopy Adventures is also located here, which offers a night adventure that is a perfect idea for a date night. If you can't tell, Ijams has EVERYTHING.

If you find yourself in the Knoxville area, this would be a great spot to bring family, friends or a significant other for an off the beaten path experience.
