Austin has tons of oddball hidden gems you wouldn't believe until you saw them. For example, did you know there's a giant Aqua-Dome that is home to the largest selection of marine fish in Central Texas? More specifically, in the wonderous and massive city of Austin. There's finally a place to visit and who knows, take home a seahorse or two.
Austin Aqua-Dome has more saltwater fish and corals than anyone else around. Although it's not your typical aquarium, it certainly feels like it when you walk in. You'll be surrounded by fish and corals from all over the world. The Phillipines, Bali, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Vietnam are just some of the many places "Nature's Second Home" partners up with.
Koi, feeder fish, ghost shrimp, and of course, seahorses are just some of the many creatures you'll see when you visit. When you walk in you'll be surrounded by multi-colored tanks that light up the entire dome. It's nearly impossible to leave without taking something home with you. Who doesn't love a beautiful aquatic pet?
Austin Aqua-Dome is closed on Mondays, but they have pretty open hours every single other day. Tuesday through Saturday they're open from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday they're open from 12 PM to 5 PM. This place is one of the neatest aquatic shops and "aquariums" to visit, and it's completely free! You don't have to go all the way to an actual zoo to experience your favorite sea creatures.
Address: 1604 Fortview Rd, Austin, TX 78704
Why you need to go: You'll see more fish and corals here than anywhere else in the world! It's perfect for a day with your significant other or with your friends.
