When the Austin Public Library first opened up, the city's residents all let out a collective sigh of relief. Finally, a gorgeous place to relax, read, or anything else the heart desired. Austin's Cookbook Bar & Cafe within this very library is the cherry on top of the cake, and we'll tell you why. This cafe not only has books lining the walls, but coffee, alcohol, and food to choose from as well! You won't believe it until you go.
Cookbook Bar and Cafe is home to over 500 cookbooks and an array of Texas-centric books and authors. While you're reading one of these amazing books, you can choose from one of their several menus with options galore. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served here and whether you want a coffee or a cocktail, that's up to you. Their drink menu is filled with book-themed drinks such as the "Harry Potter and The Paloma of Fire"! We're not crying, you are.
"Here Comes Peter Cosmotail" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Gin" are just a few more of their cleverly-named drinks. Their coffee cart is located on the roof of their building with the perfect energizer waiting for you. You and your friends can eat, drink, and read all day long. Once you're ready to do some more exploring, the library is constantly hosting events for people to join in on. And we once thought libraries were boring.
Cookbook is open every day from 9 a.m. until either 7 or 9 p.m. depending on the day. Their hours are a tad bit longer during the week to accommodate those who need a nice little break from work, or somewhere to go and do just that. If you're looking for something to do in the evening, Austin has lots of wild bars to visit so you can pick up the drinking right where you left off. Your Instagram isn't ready!
