If you live in the metroplex you are sure to know about Lone Star Park and how it is a pretty beautiful place to hang out, see some horses, and catch a couple of races. Well if you're getting tired of the same old stuff then you will want to catch their extreme exotic animal racing on April 27. Zebras, camels and ostriches will all be raced by the park jockeys in between their regularly scheduled thoroughbred races.
You will be able to place bets as you do with their regular horse races but all profits from the race will go to local non-profits. There is nothing else that compares to how wild this!
If seeing these amazing creatures face off on the track and maybe even making a little extra cash isn't enough to thrill you, you will be delighted to know that from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. there will also be a petting zoo. There you will find everything from sheep to llamas, all ready to hang out with you.
Gates open at 1 p.m. and the first race of the day will start at 2:35 p.m. The event is included with general admission into the park which is just $5. If you just can't wait and want to see live races right now, the first day for thoroughbred racing is today, April 18th.
At the end of the night, there will be live music performed by the Bon Jovi tribute band Blaze of Glory as well as a bounce house and pony rides.
Lone Star Park is located at 1000 Lone Star Pkwy in Grand Prairie, Texas. For more information on this event and all other events they will host this racing season, you can visit their website here.
