Texas weather is increasingly warming up which means fun outdoor activities are well underway. To join in the nighttime fun, Framers Branch Historical Park is throwing a free Star Party on July 12th. The party is a great excuse for you to grab your friends and enjoy the amazing view of the sunset followed by an even more amazing view of the stars.
The Texas Astronomical Society of Dallas will be joining in the fun by bringing telescopes that you are more than welcome to use during the party. It is predicted that during the party you will be able to see Jupiter along with its many moons and, if you're lucky, you might even see Saturn! You will also be able to take a closer look at our moon as well as the stars that are out there that night.
You are more than welcome to bring your own picnic with you and they will have frozen treats for sale at the event. If you happen to be very into stargazing and astronomy yourself, you can bring your own telescope. The park does have tables that you can use on a first come first serve basis, but bringing some big lawn blankets and pillows definitely sounds more cozy!
The party will start at 7 p.m. just in time to catch the sunset and will run until about 10:30 p.m., giving you plenty of time to see and explore the stars. We recommend taking blankets and sweaters just in case it gets chilly later in the night. The event is come and go so you don't have to hurry to get there and food truck will be there until sunset.
Farmers Branch Historical Park is located at 2540 Farmers Branch Ln. For more information on the Star Party, you can visit the event page here.
