These Breathtaking West Texas Mountains Are Perfect For A Summer Adventure
You'll feel like you're on top of the world!
Looking for a great place to hike that has an extraordinary view can sometimes be a little tricky, especially when you don't know where to look. These Texas mountains are the perfect new spot for you to explore this summer and have an insane outdoor adventure. Franklin Mountains State Park in El Paso offers guests a great hike with amazing views and you can rock climb while you're there, too.
The park has the highest desert mountains in Texas and is just 15 minutes from El Paso. If you don't feel like making the big climb, there are plenty of tables you can sit at to have a delicious picnic with the most beautiful backdrop around. The park also has a store where you can find the most beautiful pieces of rock sourced from the mountains themselves.
With 27,000 acres of land to explore, there is always something different to see. They also have 14 tent sites starting at just $10 a night. You can bring your own rock climbing equipment or rent some there, but either way, safety practices are always recommended. There are biking trails if you choose to go that route and you can request a tour to ensure you don't get lost.
The daily fee for the park is just $5 and it's open all year round except for the major holidays. The park headquarters is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. but you're more than welcome to stay longer to complete your exploration trip. During this super hot season, we recommend taking lots of water with you.
