When you think of October, you probably think more of pumpkins than sunflowers. Most people look for sunflower fields in the summer, but this is Texas when summer isn't ever really over. Now you'll get a little taste of summer this weekend at Mainstay Farm Park's Sunflower Fest. This sunflower field festival near Dallas will have tons of terrific activities no matter what season Texas chooses to be.

The fest will start on Saturday, October 5, at 10 a.m. Tickets for the fest at $20 when you buy online. You'll be able to take the cutest pictures on their expansive sunflower field. The field has a pumpkin house in the middle of the area as a fun October bonus.

The fest will be good for much more than just getting gorgeous pics. You'll be able to go tubing down a thrilling hill. You can also test out your aiming skills at this fest with their pumpkin bowling. Then you'll end off the night by getting lost in one of their mazes when you're not getting lost amongst the flowers.

Food and drink will be available at the event, so make sure to bring a little extra cash with you. There will be a fireworks show to close the night on Saturday. Sunday will also start at 8 a.m. and have tons of the same great activities.

While the sunflower festival is only this weekend, the farm will remain open every weekend in October. They will have plenty of attractions with tons more pumpkins.

Once you're done checking out the farm, stop by the Dallas arboretum for more plant-filled fun.
