Science museums across the state typically have interesting things to do and see. Unlike most typical science museums, the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney, Texas not only lets you learn about nature, but also really experience it. The museum has ziplining, dinosaurs and a butterfly garden for visitors to enjoy.
On zipline days, guests get to climb 23 feet up in the air and travel about 500 feet from one side to the other, taking in the stunning view. If you're scared of heights but you still want to see something massive, you have the chance to run into a 46-foot T-Rex. All of their dinos are robotic and selfie-ready.
The 289-acre museum sets out to bring people closer to nature. One of those ways is by allowing guests to go into their snake exhibit. There you can see some of Texas' native snakes and if you're up for it, you can get up close and personal as they allow you to take pictures with them.
While all of their exhibits are super awesome, nature itself provides beautiful views for guests coming to visit. You never know what you might run into as they have walkways, bridges and hideouts that make everything around it impossible to not want to take a picture.
Tickets to the museum are $10 to $12 depending on the time of year. The museum also has tons of events including date nights and family nights. The museum is open every day of the week except on Monday unless otherwise stated on their website.
Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 1 Nature Place in McKinney, Texas. For more information on the museum and to purchase your tickets you can visit their website here.
