Texas beaches aren't well known for being the prettiest. But once a year, Kemah Boardwalk lights up the sky and creates a magical beach setting during their giant, free annual Fourth of July celebration.
As the sun sets over the gulf on July 4th, plenty of amusement rides, midway games, live classic rock music, and delicious food will line the boardwalk to help you celebrate freedom the way you should—with a free event.
And then, once the clock strikes 9:30 pm, colorful fireworks will rain down over the Gulf of Mexico.
Normally, the soundtrack of Kemah Boardwalk is shrill screams and shaky rollercoaster metal. Seems dangerous to throw explosions into the mix, but who cares! From the Iron Eagle to the Boardwalk Beast, there's planty of rollercoasters here to get your stomach twisted in the most fun way possible.
You can get an all-day ride pass for $24.99.
If rollercoasters aren't your forte, you can fill your stomach will a variety of yummy eats and drinks like Bill's Bar & Burger of New York and Bubba Gump.
You can even staycation on the boardwalk at the Boardwalk Inn, so you can wake up and take a stroll down the beach— and if you wear sunglasses, you can't even tell the beach is that brown.
All month, Kemah Boardwalk will be hosting "Firework Fridays" and their "Rock The Dock Concert Series" all summer just in case you're not done celebrating. Entry to all the concert series events are free. And as part of the Firework Fridays, they're even hosting an Apollo 11 50th Anniversary special on July 19. *Texan pride intensifies.*
And on your way down there, don't forget to check out these gorgeous gardens in Galveston.
