Whether you're a hippophile at heart or a city folk with a sweet spot for Secretariat, it's time to dust off your cowboy hat and add Beach Bum Horse Rides in Galveston to your summer bucket list.
Sure, you could do this in Florida or Mexico, but nobody does horseback riding like Texas does! Just a short trip down to Surfside Beach, a ride on one of the horses will have you finally tasting that wild freedom you haven't felt since first watching Flicka.
You can view the horses ready to take you for the ride of your summer on their website. The horses include Cisco, Seven, Jackson, and Marina—all promised to be as sweet as they are beautiful.
For the horses' safety, you must be seven years or older and weigh less than 220 pounds to participate. You do not, however, need any riding experience prior to your appointment—just some love for The Black Stallion and ole' Seabiscuit.
During the summertime, you can take a morning or evening ride at 8 am or 6 pm to beat the heat. They're still open all year round besides just the summer, excluding some holidays.
For $60 you can get a guided tour for two or three riders. Any parties exceeding three will have to split the time.
There are no double rides allowed, but that's never stopped any romantic gestures. Apparently, this ride is so sweep-you-off-your-feet that it can get plenty of guys down on one knee.
Once the ride is over, there's lots more to do and see at Surfside from delicious seafood spots to surfing (go figure).
Beach Bum Horses is a family-operated business that has been kickin' it down the beach since 2015. You can book your ride by contacting the owners via their website. Yeehaw, Texans!
