Houston Is Hosting A Huge Indonesian Festival Next Month & It's Free

Anyone can agree that ancient Asian culture is really fascinating. Its colors, flavors, and traditions are among the most appreciated in the whole world. Sadly, a trip to the other side of the world is normally a very expensive one. But, no worries! A huge Indonesian Festival is happening in Houston next month and it will give you a little taste of the incredible Asian continent without leaving Texas.
This annual celebration of the Indonesian culture will include artistic presentations, activities and a massive culinary festival where you can try the most popular dishes of this Asian country.
The best of all is that admission is completely free so anyone and everyone can join in the fun.
The event, held by The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Houston in collaboration with Dharma Wanita Persatuan Houston, will let all Houstonians experience the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia.
Walk through the festival grounds to taste some of the yummy food they have to offer. Try Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng, Bakso and the famous Chicken Satay Skewers.
Vendors will be more than glad to explain all of the history and flavors behind their traditional dishes to you.
In addition to the food, you will enjoy traditional performances of Indonesian music and dances, with dancers who will be adorned with traditional costumes. Don't forget to take a pic with some of them at the end of the presentation.
There will also be martial arts demonstrations, a fashion show, vendors offering a variety of traditionally Indonesian products, and kid's activities since the event is appropriate for the whole family.
The fest will run from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and you won't want to miss a moment of it!
The Indonesian Festival will be taking place at the Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia Houston on Richmond Avenue.
Make sure to bring enough cash for your food and product purchases, because they won't be accepting cards or have an ATM at the premises.
The parking spaces are limited, so organizers recommend carpooling or the use of taxis or Uber.
Although the event is completely free, registration is required. Don't forget to bring your confirmation e-mail printed, you will be participating in a raffle to win prizes!
