A Giant Houston Kite Festival Will Fill The Sky With Color This Spring
Let's go fly a kite.
We all love to hit the town to party from time to time. However, some of us also enjoy spending an afternoon in the park to enjoy a picnic and rest on a blanket. Soon, you'll be able to do so under a sky full of gorgeous, colorful kites. Houston's Hermann Park Conservancy Kite Fest returns in March 2020, so prepare to show off your kite flying skills.
This kite festival was born in 2014 as part of the Hermann Park centenary celebrations and reached such popularity that it turned into an annual event.
This year, the fest will be hosting its seventh edition. More than 10,000 kites of the most varied shapes, colors, and sizes will cover the entire sky of the park. It will be magical, so don't miss it.
If you attend, you can participate in craft workshops, including some on how to make your own kite from scratch. They'll also have a stage with live entertainment, interactive activities, and games for all ages.
Food trucks will be serving your favorite snacks and drinks so you can relax and have a nice lunch on the grass.
The festival is entirely free and open to the public and will take place on March 29, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A whole day of fun!
There will be a stage with live music, as well as a DJ, and artistic presentations by students from some schools in the city.
As it is an event for the whole family, children can participate in exclusive interactive activities designed just for them, and there will be characters wearing costumes to amuse them (and you).
Meanwhile, you can fly your kite as much as you can, and perhaps, have a friendly competition of who can fly theirs higher. May the best kite win.
This is the perfect environment to pause adultness for a little while. You can forget about everything and feel completely free while having some springtime fun. And the best part? Everyone around you will be doing the same!
If you don't have a kite, don't worry because you can buy one at the festival.
The event will be taking place in the Miller Hill and Jones Reflection Pool area.
