If you feel like spending an amazing day surrounded by flowers and fresh produce you can eat, you're in luck because Plant it Forwards in Houston if having a free festival on April 27th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can get the sweetest fresh veggies and beautiful bouquet of flowers while enjoying all of the cutest farm festivites all afternoon!
The festival will not only have amazing farm views, but it will also feature peaceful yoga and a super cute plant sale. All sales will come from the plants the farm grew to be taken care of by yourself at home. They will be selling both veggie and herbs so you can grow some of these delicious greens in your own back yard.
They will also have farm tours available so you don't have to explore the produce and flower fields alone. If all of that fun works up an appetite, they will have congo-cajun crawfish and green gumbo. The farm knows how important pets are so they are allowing dogs on the farm.
The activities for the day are free but they do suggest a donation at any point as all contributions help maintain this and other small local farms.
You can buy a membership to the farm while you're there, which includes a weekly share of food from the Houston farms. The amount of food is good for three to five people. Currently, they have tomatoes, peppers, beets, jalapenos and eggplant. The membership also includes exclusive invitations to farm events.
The Urban Farm Fest will be held at Plant It Forward Westbury Farms at 12581 Dunlap Street. To RSVP for the event you can visit their event page here. For more information on Plant It Forward including their membership and all their events, you can visit their website here.
