You Can Roller Skate Among Downtown Houston's Skyscrapers This Month
It's retro roller rink vibes meets modern downtown.
The 70s are coming back baby! Actually, not everything from the groovy decade is coming back, we'll leave shaggy haircuts and huge lapels in the past, thank you. But some parts of the 70s are definitely worth keeping around, like roller skating! It's always a fun activity and Discovery Green in Downtown Houston is bringing back roller-skating at their popular seasonal outdoor rink.
Over winter, Discovery Green had itsopen to the public but with the changing seasons, the ice rink is going to shut down and be replaced with a roller rink.
The rink opens on March 6 and will only be open for a limited time so you will not want to miss out on stopping by. The rink will close on April 12!
To celebrate opening day, the first fifty skaters will get in for free and there will be free skate rentals all night.
Roller skating in the middle of Downtown Houston is a really cool experience that you have to take advantage of in the spring since the rink is only open for a few weeks.
We recommend checking their hours before going because most days of the week have different opening and closing times.
The seasonal rink will be open on Mondays through Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
On school holidays they'll also be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. which they have listed as March 16 through March 20 and March 30 through April 10.
So basically, although the rink will only be up for about a month, it'll be open for most of that time!
Tickets to skate are only $8 and skate rentals are $4. However, Discovery Green also is going to have Cheap Skate Nights where skate rentals are free.
The rink will have different themed events like their 80s and 90s themed nights where you can get your boogie on to some of those decades' biggest hits.
Houston hasbut there's something special about skating under the lights of the downtown skyscrapers that is a super fun retro way to pass a (hopefully) cool spring evening.
