A Free Neon Light Festival Will Brighten Up San Antonio This Weekend
Amazing art and performances will be everywhere.
The best of contemporary art will take San Antonio by storm very soon thanks to a great event coming to town - plus, it's also completely free. "Luminaria" in San Antonio will fill the city with neon lights this weekend and you don't want to miss this extravaganza. The event will feature experimental installations and performances by dozens of the most talented local, regional, and international artists.
This multidisciplinary festival celebrates art in all of its dimensions and is truly one of a kind. On November 9 and 10, you will get an immersive and inspiring experience that will elevate your spirit and leave you with the most incredible photos. As if that were not enough, this is a free admission event, open to everybody who wants to stop by Hemisfair San Antonio.
From 7:00 p.m. and until midnight, you will have time to tour the Hemisfair grounds and enjoy a variety of luminous artistic installations and street performances that will unfold in front of your eyes everywhere. For two days, gardens, trees, and terraces will be full of unexpected art that you can intuitively explore while exercising all your senses.
In addition to Hemisfair, part of the festival will take place in the historic Mission San Jose. All manifestations of art will be represented: visual arts, performance, cinema, literature, and dance, among others. It is no accident that the event attracts about 20,000 people every year to see the work of the best contemporary artists.
If you are an artist, there will be an open stage and gallery for you to show your talent to the world, although if you prefer to show off a creative costume, you can also participate in the Light Up The Night costume contest, where you can exercise your DIY skills with a bright, neon twist. Plus, there will be prizes! Other interesting activities of the event are Art Quest Adventure and the Arts Organization Booths.
At the event, you can witness live art demonstrations, workshops, and brunches conducted by artists, and an Artist Market where you can shop works of art and souvenirs. Yummy food will be provided by Commonwealth, Paleteria San Antonio, and Dough Pizzeria Napoletana while entertainment is provided by DJ Ax6, an inspiring 12-year-old DJ.
The closing will be in the San Jose Mission, with a show by Mike Ryan and Los San Patricios, a band that mixes indigenous, Mexican, American and Irish music.
