There are many gorgeous natural and man-made wonders in Georgia that you have to see all of them. From large gardens to 100-foot waterfalls, there is something for everyone in our state. Right on the border of the Georgia-Tennessee line, you will have to crawl through tight rock crevasses, go through a rainbow cave and cross a bridge to see a 100-foot free-falling waterfall.
Lookout Mountain in Rock City, Georgia is one of the most underhyped locations in the state. This place is pretty spectacular and worth the drive. While it is only six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City Gardens and Lookout Mountain are still in Georgia.
The Gardens is what you want to see in Rock City. It will take you through a magical experience you've probably never seen before. It's easy to spend your entire day here because there is so much beauty to look at.
There is a walking trail through the Gardens that will lead you to a 100-foot waterfall and has a view that stretches over seven states. You will walk through caves, gardens and over wooded hills on your journey. During the fall they have corn mazes and closer to Christmas time the area is lit up and decked out in festive decor.
The trail is only a mile round-trip, but there is something to look from every inch of it. Before you reach the falls, you will cross a suspension bridge, AKA "Swing-A-Long Bridge." It is 180-feet long and definitely not for the faint of heart. If you can muster up the courage, it will give you a spectacular view of the Chattanooga valley.
You will approach Lover's Leap where the view gives you (on a good, clear day) a grand view of seven different states. You can see Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Here you will also get the best view of the waterfall, High Falls. This is an artificial and man-made fall, but it is too beautiful to not check out. It looks like a scene straight out of a movie.
On your way back down from the falls, there is a rainbow cave that has stained glass rainbow windows that you will walkthrough, as well as the whimsical Fairytale Caverns. This part of the trip will take you back to your childhood and into your own storybook tale.
North Georgia has so many waterfall trails and there are many beginner ones as well. Here is one that you can explore that is perfect for the upcoming fall season.
