The Houmas House property has been around since the 1700s and is located in Darrow, Louisiana. It is a beautiful white mansion with a wrap-around porch and 38 acres of gardens, which translates to what many girls imagine their dream house to be. 

You can take tours of this house and property to learn all about its history and to see why this spot is so popular. There are also three delicious restaurants right on site so you can really experience it all here. 

The Houmas House was one of the most thriving and popular sugarcane plantations in all of the South. Throughout the years, there have been many renovations to the property to make what it is today. 

You might recognize this spot from TV shows, movies and many commercials. For example, you might have seen it on Top Chef,Revenge of the Bridesmaids (a personal favorite), Wheel of Fortune and multiple Budweiser commercials. 

On your tour, you'll be greeted by a tour guide who is dressed in antebellum-period clothing, adding to this cool experience. Inside the house, you'll find furniture and artwork in every inch of the house from hundreds of years ago. This is a guided tour because you do not want to get lost in an old house that might have some spooky ghosts hanging around. 

Once you make it to the gardens, you'll be able to roam at your leisure and really embrace the beauty of it and take as many pictures as you want. There are different nooks you can sit in at the gardens so you can just take in all that is around you. 

If you just can't get enough of this spot, you have the option of staying the night in one of the cozy cottages right on site. 

There are a few other outdoor adventures that the great state of Lousiana has that you should travel to at least once including this butterfly garden that has free-flying butterflies everywhere and this massive bayou where you will come inches away from tons of alligators.
