I Tried Tim Hortons New Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwiches And This Is My Honest Opinion

The famous Beyond Meat has finally made its way into the Tim Hortons franchise. As of this morning, it was announced that Tim Hortons Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwiches can be ordered at 4,000 of their restaurants around the nation. These three new sandwiches consist of the Beyond Meat 100% plant-based patties that are offered as a great meat alternative.

The new sandwiches offer both vegan and vegetarian options to give you the same great breakfast sandwich taste, without the meat. The sandwiches were recently available at a small number of Tim Hortons test stores back in May, but now, Tim Hortons is ready to roll them out to the entire country.

Beyond Meat has created quite the hype since it hit markets earlier this year, a variety of other restaurants have already started to incorporate this pattie into their menu, including A&W. Now, Tim Hortons is here to show you exactly how they plan on using these patties.

Since the hype has been growing over the past few months, I decided to head to my nearest Tim Hortons and try all three of the new Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches to see if they lived up to their expectations. Here's my honest opinion.

Tim Hortons offers three new sandwiches that you can choose from that contain Beyond Meat: the Beyond Sausage Egg & Cheese, Beyond Sausage Farmer's Wrap and Beyond Sausage Lettuce Tomato. All three sandwiches are a play on the original breakfast sandwiches that are currently on their menu.

The first sandwich that I tried was the Beyond Sausage Egg & Cheese which contains the Beyond Sausage patty, egg, and cheese all placed between an English Muffin, Homestyle Biscuit or a bagel (I picked the homestyle biscuit).

As a meat eater, I was shocked to discover that the patty actually does taste like sausage. In fact, the Beyond Meat patty was more flavourful than the normal sausage that you would usually get on Tim Horton's breakfast sandwiches, which in my opinion made the sandwich better than the original egg and cheese breakfast sandwich.

However, like other Tim Hortons sandwiches, due to the lack of ingredients, such as the lack of any form of sauce, the sandwich was pretty dry. Any additional ingredients could have made up for the simplicity of the sandwich that left you wanting something more. Overall, if you're somebody who likes to keep your mornings and breakfasts simple, this is definitely the sandwich for you.

The next sandwich that I tried was the Beyond Sausage Lettuce Tomato sandwich. This is supposed to be an entirely vegan option, only including a sausage patty, lettuce, and tomato on a biscuit. Although, mine didn't come exactly as it outlined on the menu.

When I received my sandwich it also included egg and cheese, eliminating the vegan factor for this sandwich. So make sure when you are ordering the sandwich to specify that you are looking to receive the purely vegan sandwich or you might end up with egg and cheese as I did.

However, despite the mixup, the sandwich was still pretty good. The tomato and lettuce definitely added a little more flavor that took away the dryness that the first sandwich contained.

Yet, the lettuce and tomato did make the sandwich feel more like a lunch item, giving it more of a burger feel. It's not something that I would want to order in the early hours of the morning.

The last item that I tried from their menu was the Beyond Sausage Farmer's Wrap, and if I'm being honest, there's nothing bad I can say about this sandwich.

This was by far my favorite sandwich out of the three. This wrap contains the Beyond Breakfast Sausage, egg, cheddar cheese, hashbrown, and chipotle sauce.  The chipotle sauce definitely gives this wrap more flavor than the other two sandwiches and the hashbrown adds more texture.

All of these ingredients mixed together made the perfect breakfast option, and even though I do eat meat, I may find myself opting for this sandwich from now on.
