11 Places To Take A Date In Toronto Who Really Loves Harry Potter

If you clicked on this article I think it's safe to assume that you're a pretty big Harry Potter fan, and I don't blame you.  Harry Potter was a huge part of a lot of people's childhoods, and it's definitely a hard addiction to shake!

Unfortunately finding magical date ideas in a world full of muggles can get pretty tough, but I have done my best to compile a list of date ideas that might get you feeling nostalgic about this amazing book series.  Your special someone is bound to be humbled by these date ideas,

Hopefully, you won't need a love spell to win them over after a few of these dates!

1. Drink Butterbeer at The Lockheart

The Lockheart should be at the top of every Harry Potter fan's bar bucket list. The entire space is an homage to potions, spells, and magical cocktails, and is sure to impress your date! Be sure to take advantage of all the awesome photo ops as well.

2. Sub in Casa Loma for Hogwarts

No, Casa Loma isn't the home to hundreds of young wizards, but it still makes for a pretty cute date spot. The castle itself is incredibly whimsical, and will definitely make you feel as if you're walking the grounds of Hogwarts.


3. Go on a Distillery District Ghost Walk

The Distillery District is probably the closest thing we have to Diagon Alley. If you're looking for a more creative date, why not take advantage of one of the ghost tours that are offered during the fall! Who knows, you might even meet Nearly Headless Nick!

4. See a live performance of Potted Potter

Potted Potter has finally made their way to Toronto, and it seems like everyone is seriously loving it. If you're looking for something fun to do with your special someone, treat them to this awesome show. This live performance is basically a hilarious version of all 7 Harry Potter books condensed into 70 minutes, so be sure to take advantage of the show while it's still in the city.

5. Explore the Toronto Reference Library

For those with an avid imagination, the Toronto Reference Library's staircases vaguely resemble the moving staircases in Hogwarts. This is one of the most impressive libraries in Toronto and is sure to please any bookworm.

6. Attend the International Authors Festival

If you're dating a Harry Potter fan, chances are they also love other amazing books. Toronto is hosting the International Authors Festival this month which is the perfect opportunity to meet some amazing authors, score some great deals on books, and maybe even get a copy signed! Unfortunately, JK Rowling won't be in attendance, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a few other novels that you'll fall in love with.

7. Watch a UofT Quidditch game

Yep, you read that correctly. U of T has its very own quidditch team! The game unfortunately won't involve any nimbus 2000s flying around the treetops, but you're sure to be entertained!

8. Party hard at a Harry Potter themed rave

If you don't already have plans this Halloween, look no further. You and your date will need to take a short road trip to Buffalo in order to attend the Rave That Shall Not Be Named, but I'm sure it will be the experience of a lifetime.

9. Visit Allan Gardens

Pretend you're enrolled in the Hogwarts herbology class while strolling through Allen Gardens. This date is completely free, and is also a really great way to take a break from the fall/winter weather Toronto is currently experiencing

10. Take a walk through UofT's St. George Campus

There is definitely something magical about UofT's campus. Between the amazing architecture and endless green spaces, you're sure to find a peaceful spot to hangout with your date.

11.  Visit the whomping willow at High Park 

Luckily Toronto's version is way less violent, so you won't have to worry about you or your date getting crushed. P.S. High Park also has a free petting zoo that makes for a super adorable date!

Ontario is rolling out vaccine certificates on September 22 and Ontarians will need to show proof of full vaccination, two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine with the last dose being at least 14 days ago, in order to enter some public spaces.

The Ontario Government just released a comprehensive list of indoor spaces where patrons will need to show proof of vaccination along with a piece of ID to enter.
