This year started off with a bang for the Toronto restaurant industry, with new hot spots La Banane and Japanhako already making a mark on the city. By the looks of it, the year shows no sign of slowing down, with plenty of new and exciting restaurants and eateries hitting the city this season.

Whether you're into greasy comfort food or gluten-free treats, there's sure to be a restaurant for you. Here are 12 new Toronto restaurants to check out this spring.

1. Grey Gardens // 199 Augusta Avenue

Open: Now

Grey Gardens is a new venture by chef Jen Agg in Kensington Market. The wine bar and restaurant serves a seafood heavy menu, as well as snack and pasta options.

2. Cafe de Paris // 4186 Finch Ave East

Open: Now

Located in Scarborough, Cafe de Paris is a cafe that serves decadent desserts and drinks. Their "bon-bon" drinks are their highly instagrammable speciality.

3. Pinky's Ca Phe // 53 Clinton Street

Open: Now

From the team behind Hanmoto comes Pinky's Ca Phe, a charming Vietnamese BBQ spot located in a restored Little Italy home. The vibe is laidback and welcoming, and the prices are pretty fair when you compare what else is in the area.

4. Black Briik // 1077 Bloor St W

Open: Now

Black Briik is a new spot near Bloor and Dufferin that describes itself as a "90s nostalgia bar." The menu includes savoury hits like sloppy joes and mac and cheese.

5. Birch Bistro // 623 Mount Pleasant

Open: March

Few details are known about Birch Bistro so far. We do know that they are planning a March opening and that it will be taking over the former space of Bar Mar.

9. Rosie's Eatery //  1726 Avenue Road

Open: April

Rosie's Eatery is an upcoming restaurant that will specialize in gluten-free and vegan friendly foods. Though the location isn't open yet, Rosie's recently opened for delivery and catering.

6. Nishdish Marketeria // 607 Bloor West

Open: Early March

Nishdish is an upcoming “marketeria” offering Indigenous sourced coffee, quick meals, and a selection of food products sourced from First Nations, Inuit and Metis people.

7. CANO // 1108 Saint Clair West

Open: April

CANO is an upcoming Italian/Mediterranean restaurant taking over the space that was previously Emma's Country Kitchen.

8. Dundas General // 1243 Dundas Street West

Open: April

Inspired by the traditional general store, Dundas General is a new cafe/store which will sell high-quality food products and meals as well as lifestyle accessories and goods.

10. Poor Romeo // Gerrard East

Open: Late Spring

The owners of Pinkerton's Snack Bar are planning to open a diner across the street from their original location in late Spring.

11. Godspeed Brewery // 242 Coxwell Ave

Open: Late Spring

From brewmaster Luc Lafontaine comes Godspeed Brewery, a brewpub coming to the Gerrard and Coxwell area later this spring.

12. Gare de L'Est  // 1210 Dundas Street East

Open: Late Spring

Gare de L'Est Brasserie is a new restaurant opening in the new Streetcar Crowsnest theatre in Leslieville.
