13 Reasons You Should Date A Greek Girl At Least Once In Your Life
Before anyone decides to get up in arms at the subject matter - all ethnicities are unique and beautiful in their own way! With that being said, Greek girls often make pretty great girlfriends for a multitude of reasons, including our love of dancing and celebrations, delicious food, and a rich cultural heritage, among other things.
Ever wanted to date a Greek girl? Well, there are many awesome reasons why you should! And if you yourself are an Ellinida, how many of the qualities below do you agree with or see in yourself?
1. We love to dance.
It doesn't matter if it's at a nightclub or your best friend's wedding - if there is music and a dance floor, Greeks will probably be one of the first to be up and dancing!
2. You'll get fed all the Greek food you could possibly want!
Whether your girl is the one cooking the meal or her mother (or even her dad making souvlaki on the BBQ), you can rest assured that stepping into a Greek household means you will be offered food, and it will be delicious. And then your mouth will water thinking about that meal for days afterward. Mmm, gyro pita.
3. We know how to throw a party.
No matter what kind of celebratory event it is, it's a known fact that Greeks live for huge, festive parties - we will drink, we will dance, we will sing, and then we will drink some more. Oh, and if you're a guest at a Greek wedding, just know that the Greeks won't rest until you're up and dancing (or at least, attempting) the Kalamatiano along with them.
4. We have a huge respect for our parents and for family in general.
Of course, this might not matter to you if you're just looking for a fling. However, if you're looking to wife up a Greek girl, you should know that we have an enormous amount of respect for our family, and even though we will disagree with and complain about them a lot of the time (which, trust me, we will), we know that at the end of the day nobody has your back more than family. Besides, if she has such a large amount of respect for her parents then you can almost guarantee she'll show a similar amount of respect toward yours. That's wifey material right there.
5. We are obsessed with going back to Greece for vacation as often as possible - if you're lucky, you might get to come too!
Granted, you might have to become pretty serious with her first (the traditional Greek parents will be nosy and all up in your business, after all), but if you ever get the chance to tag along with her to the homeland, ohhhh man. Just Google Santorini, Mykonos and Zakynthos for starters and imagine vacationing among breathtaking Greek islands with your Greek beauty!
6. We take pride in our appearance and generally have a great sense of style.
People don't throw around the term 'Greek goddess' for nothing - Greek girls will generally always try to look their best. Bonus: if you're her man, she may even gift you that new blazer from the mall or give her input on a particular hairstyle, because she wants to help you look your best, too. #CoupleGoals, anyone?
7. We are extremely passionate about anything and everything we do.
Okay, yes, this might contribute to the fact that we can be overly dramatic and loud sometimes, but then again who wants to partner up with someone without any passion in life? Greek girls will voice their opinions, fiercely support what they believe in, as well as fight for the things and people they love, and who doesn't want someone like that as their right hand?
8. We will teach you a sexy new language.
What's more attractive than a bilingual chick? Stay with a Greek girl long enough and you'll catch on to some fun phrases in a new language - and no, I don't just mean that one famous Greek curse word everyone loves to throw around when they're on the Danforth (starts with M, hint hint). Plus, the Greek language has often been said to sound pretty sexy to the non-Greek ear... just saying. ;)
9. We will want to proudly show off our significant other.
Let's face it, Greeks are known to be a pretty prideful people, and when it comes to our dating life, we are no different. If you date a Greek girl she will probably shower you with affection and want to proudly show you off as her man.
10. We are pretty great at making conversation.
If you consider yourself somewhat of a conversationalist, then dating a Greek girl might be for you - maybe we get it from our ancestors, but Greeks tend to enjoy philosophizing (and, admittedly, our fair share of gossip). You might find that you'll be able to talk to a Greek girl for hours about anything and everything. We make pretty good +1's to have on hand at dinner parties or social events as a result!

12. We never show up empty-handed.
It's simply not proper Greek social etiquette to show up at someone's house or event without something to offer the host(s). Whether it's a bottle of wine for dinner at your parents' place or a small dish of her own to add to your friend's summer BBQ party, a Greek girl would probably be embarrassed to show up empty-handed.
13. If you manage to pass the 'Parent Test' then you will be fiercely loved and included in our big, crazy Greek family just like one of our own.
Don't take the 'Parent Test' lightly as it's a pretty huge deal to both a Greek girl and her parents, but if you can get past this crucial step, then consider yourself accepted into the fold, as fiercely loved and protected as one of our own - and, like mentioned before, nothing is considered more important to Greeks than family.
