13 Ways To Make The Best Of Your Pride Weekend

Pride is one of the most fun, educational and entertaining things you will ever experience in Toronto. With hundreds of stage shows, parties, performances, and events, however, it can be a bit overwhelming to those looking to attend for the first time. So, we've put together a little Pride 2016 guide so you can organize your week accordingly.

Essentially Pride Weekend events need to be divided to be conquered. All in all, there are a number of festivals and fairs within Pride, of which you should try to at least attend one of each in order to get the most out of your pride weekend.

1. Go to a Green Space Event

Since its inception in 2008, The Green Space Festival has become a thriving, internationally recognized cultural festival in Toronto. Comprised of a series of signature events throughout pride – including Starry Night, One World, Lipstick Jungle, Disco Disco and TreeHouse Party – the Green Space Festival offers high caliber productions that feature national and international artists providing amazing outdoor shows in gorgeous tree-lined venues packed over four days.

2. Go to a Prism Event

Prism Festival is North America’s largest gay circuit music festival, spanning five events with over 15,000 attendees. Featuring world class DJ's at the best venues in Toronto, these are some of the biggest parties during Pride Week.

3. Go To a Random Pride Party

Tonnes of parties pop up all around Toronto during pride that celebrate the LGBTQ community and its allies. Whether it's at Cabana Pool Bar, Sneaky Dees or Steamwhistle Brewing you'll find a party on every corner this week.

4. Attend a Stage Show

The pride weekend street fair is full of stages at every corner from Yonge and Dundas to Church and Wellesley with world famous DJ's and drag queens to keep you dancing and laughing all weekend long.

Hungover but don't want to miss any of the action? Hit up O'Grady's on Church for some brunch and maybe a cocktail or two if the hair of the dog should fancy you.

9. Get Sangria's at The Church St. Garage

With a gorgeous patio and open air concept, chilling with some friends in the sun and people watching during pride is a favourite pride pastime.

10. Attend a Pride Art Fair

Witness the expressive efforts of youth from a number of schools and artistic programs and groups, showcasing their work related to identities, legal rights, experiences of mental health and wellness, and other social justice initiatives.
